A large group of Buick nuts get together twice a year at Temple for their Brand X Bash. Their second event this year is scheduled for December 3. They usually end up with 30 or 40 cars there.

I was thinking this might be a good opportunity to scrounge together all the ROP members that live in Dallas, Waco, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, ect... into a resonably central spot for a day of getting together and racing (since Norwalk is not the closest spot in the country for us Texas folk). Of course, anyone would be welcome to come regardless of where you live.

The Buick guys put together a pot of money that is split between the top three winners (I think it is $500 total with $300 for winner, $200 for 2nd, $100 for first). We would not be in on that pot, but if enough Olds guys showed up, maybe we could do something similar, or we could just race for fun.

If there was enough interest, maybe we could turn it into an annual Southern ROP vs. V8Buick bash or something like that.

I am using the poll function as a counter. Vote yes if you would be interested. No need to vote no if you could care less or if you live nearby, but cant make it. Thanks!!

Ben

December is not good for me. That is when my clients have Christmas partys. But early in the spring before race season would be great. Good time to break out the cars from a long winters rest. What I am I saying. We live in Texas and can race all year!

Not too long of a drive from my place, I might try to make it to spectate if I still have my Salon. Might have a deal to trade it for a 67 442. By the way, is Temple a full quarter mile or 1/8th? With the motorplex in my back door, 1/8 isn't too exciting to me. Over too quick. No sooner than you get a green and then 7 or 8 quick seconds and it's over.

The track at Temple is a full 1/4 mile...short shut-down area makes for a fun ride in the really fast cars. Much of the track has overhanging pecan trees so you can usually find some shade on hot summer days. Pits are un paved..track is narrow and looks like an old school " outlaw " track.

Dan, you gonna have your transmission fixed by then? I have been assured by 2Lane racer that Temple's track conditions are much better on race day than on their test-n-tune evenings. So, you should not have to worry about doing the Texas two step down the track again.

So, so far we have Me, Dan, TxOlds and his bro bringing cars, and maybe a couple of others spectating. C.J., dont be a puss, bring your car!! Come on 2Lane, its early December, there wont be any Christmas parties then.

You guys know any others? Looks like the track is only about 2 hours from Houston and Dallas. Any folks from those spots?

I may be able to attend, but I don't know at this point if I'd be a spectator or if I'd manage to bring the '69 H/O on up. It has a few mechanical issues that would need to be addressed before I would run the 1/4 with it again. It has been a very long time since I've done that and it would be a blast...

I'd love to go where I am not the ONLY olds at the track, and the only one who is OLDS powered....I'm in!

Would you give the guys who would be travelling down there some hints on good hotels, etc...so we can try and make some plans???

Thanks for setting this up...

Sounds like fun. I'd like to go but can't say for sure yet. My car should be fixed by then if I don't tear it up again. I know I can't drive it that far so will have to tow.
Thanks
