| I went with the Strange Pro Race Axle Package with 33 spline axles, spool, unit bearing, 5/8 studs, and 4:11's in my 1982 Cutlass with an 8.5 Grand National 10-bolt housing. I'm hoping it will stand up to a 10 second ride, if not I guess I'll pump more money into the pit. Again, my .02 cent contribution to a discussion. |

That is the same setup I have in my rear end. With that exact same setup in another car (a 75 Nova with a BBC and nitrous we ran a bunch of high 8 second passes before the owner switched to a lighter car. The Nova would cut 1.30 flat 60fts.
Basically I am saying you will be fine with those axles in the 10s, lol. _________________ Kevin 78 Cutlass

I have moser axles in my 70, but they're only 28 spline
I've already broken one a couple of years ago. I noticed the splines were twisting on one side, but I don't have a spool, so I figured it wasn't a big deal if it snapped
I have the video at home my car goes about a foot and a half forward and you can hear it pop _________________
Another thing to consider is what rear you are using. If its stock 12 bolt Chevy by the time you upgrade the spool or Posi, 1350 Yoke, gears and axles you will have spent some good coin. What I did was sell the stock 12 bolt to offset the cost of getting a whole new unit from Moser. That way the cost came down for a much better rear.
Ron, that's a good point too. It's a stock 12 bolt chevy w/ 3 series carrier. Someone put the wide gear 4.56 in it, no spacer. 30 spline. 507 Old's is looking to see if he has something I can use... cost's can run up quick as everyone here knows. _________________ Ain't no moss growin on my tires. |

Greg hooked me up with a Ferd 9" with Moser 35 spline axles and Detroit Locker. No noise and I don't worry about breaking it. More street than track miles too. _________________

Ditto. Why would you want c-clips or eliminators, when you can just get a whole new rear? _________________ "Oh, there ain't no rest for the wicked, Money don't grow on trees. That's exactly what I did. August 2006 when I ordered the Moser 9", it came with 33, but he said I could get 35's for the smae price. So I did. That way if I ever get BBO torque, I'm already set. _________________ If you can't be #1, at least have one hell of a reputation. |
