Well, Today, March 22, 2009 marks the 30th anniversary of the day I bought my 442. I was 22 years old and this was the first car I bought without my dad being there. The car was also my first loan. I wnt in to the Bank of Montreal and told them I needed $5000. I was making $4.25/hr. They did the calculations and without a co-signer I got the money. Monthly payments were around $151/mo. for 36 months. Join me as I go through a history of ownership with an Oldsmobile 442 (one of 143 that came with the 455 Rocket).

Here is the dealership "Crows Nest Pass Motors in Blairmore, AB. right in the middle of the Rockies (here, it was turned into a grocery store by 1994)

Used to be Crows Nest Pass Motors

Here are the original owners with the car just after they bought it

Ken, thats great that you still have it after all these years, I'm sure it feels more like part of the family then just a car.

And I agree on the Jasper park pics- they look like something you would see in a 1976 Oldsmobile brochure.

Cool pics, thanks for posting them!

Thanks. Wife says I'm a pack rat. I remember that when I got those Cragers so long ago, I was going to sell the SSII's. Never got around to it thank God. The car is part if the family...kinda like this video (without the crushing)

Spoiler was added around 1991-92. I still have the original trunk so I can go back if I like. It came off a Buick Free Spirit pace car I found in the junk yard...same deck lids. The NASCAR 442's had them from 1977-1981.

Thanks. I've only posted a few pictures and even skipped a few years and destinations. This car has been across Canada and the US three times. From Cape Cod to Vancouver Island. She's never let me down. On the first trip to show my dad the car, I did Calgary to Montreal in 36 hours including a 2 hour break (Crazy kid). That 2,261 miles. I'm glad you enjoyed the post as much as I enjoyed posting it. Very Happy
