The transmission has started to take off in second now and then. Shifts firmly 1-2-3, when it takes of in 1st.

Is this something that is adjustable or easy fix ?

Thanks.

The governor is sticking. It is on the passenger side of the trans near the tailshaft, located under a round 4 bolt cover.Remove the cover, you will get a small amount of fluid leaking out, grab the governor and pull it out,it will turn as you are pulling it out because it has a gear on the end.You need to spray some carb cleaner or brake cleaner inside the little square windows. If you push on the weights you will see the shaft move up and down inside the body.It only takes a tiny peice of crap to get in there and make it stick.

You need to pull the trans pan down as well and change the fluid and filter. Material in the fluid can make the governor stick.

Thank you both for this, now I have something to do while I wait for the engine parts to arrive here. I pulled the tranny with the engine so this will be easy.

Thank you, this is a great site ! Wink
